Abyaneh Village is one of the spectacular places of Kashan that in addition of historical monuments, has perfect geographical position and located in a region with pleasant climate.

Abyaneh is called “Viuna” in local language that the stem of this word consists of two words “Vi” and “Viyane”; by passing time, this name changed to “Aviyane” and later to “Abyaneh”.

The life of Local people is passing through agriculture, gardening and livestock husbandry that is done with traditional way.

Abyaneh women had an effective role in partnership with men in economy affairs.

This village has products like wheat, potato and different kinds of fruits. Carpet- weaving is one of the ways of subsistence.

The height of this village from sea level reaches to 2,222 meters and hence, it has cold and moderate weather.

There are foothills around this village that protect it toward adverse environmental factors.

The urban of the village, form of the structures and the kind of materials used caused forming a stepped village with dense fabric and connected monuments that foothill is located in the north, the village in the middle and farms in the south and west of it.

Mountain climate of this region and the distance from crowded centers had this advantage that people keep their traditional customs, language and colorful clothes.

Traditional clothes of men includes a baggy and long pant which is made from black fabric and for women, it includes a long dress with flowery fabrics and white- colored scarf that it is still common among these people.

Abyaneh Village is located in the hillside of Karkass Mountain and in 40 km of north- west of Natanz and 70 km of south of Kashan in Isfahan province.

You can access to this village with Kashan- Natanz- Isfahan’s highway.

All of the houses of this village are built on the hillside of Karkass Mountain in north of Barzroud River and have interesting architecture;

like stepped houses of Masouleh, the roof of lower houses acts as the yard of upper houses. This village looks multi- layered.

The rooms of houses have wooden windows and in most of them, you can see wooden.

One of the attractions of houses is the red color of exterior of their wall that is being covered with red soil which is belongs to the mine of next village.

The fabric of village houses is spiral and its antiquity returns to Seljuk, Safavid and Qajar period.

The rooms that belong to Seljuk period, don’t have any yard, but have a porch with the height of 5 meters in southern side.

These houses have open spaces like roofed yard named “Soffeh” that use for different programs like wedding and mourning.

Some of the houses are belong to Safavid period and four- Soffeh houses are being seen in them.
Historical village of Abyaneh

The authenticity of this village is not clear; although it is estimated 1500 years that in this sense, it’s considered as the oldest residential regions.

Old fabric of village was submitted in the list of national works in the year of 1354;

while the religions of “Nakhl Gardani” and “Jeghjeghe Zani” and also the dialect of Abyaneh was recorded in the list of Spiritual Works of Iran.

Historical monuments of village are related to different periods; from Sassanid and Seljuk, to Safavid and Qajar that we can refer to “Harpark Fireplace” that is the oldest historical monument of Abyaneh.

Maybe, it’s interesting that Safavid kings, their relatives and also the courtiers that went to Natanz for summer- quarter, prefer to reside in Abyaneh.
