Recipe of Masho Ghomri

Masho Ghomri can be served as lunch, dinner or even in the afternoon. You can eat it as Eftari in Ramadan. In the following, we explain how to cook it:

Cooking time: near 4 hours

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • Sheep’s meat: 200 g
  • Mung bean: 1 glass
  • Vegetable includes leek, parsley, fenugreek and savory: 300 g
  • Rice: half of glass
  • Medium onion: 2 (in the form of sliced and fried)
  • Salt, pepper and turmeric: in the amount needed
  • Kohlrabi: 3

This delicious food is being prepared in 3 phases:

First phase:

Put rinsed and cleaned meat in the oven with the appropriate amount of water to get half-cooked.

Cook mung beans separately. When meat got half-cooked, add grated kohlrabies and let it to be cooked together for 10 minutes.

Second phase:

Add cleaned vegetables along with rice to the meat and Ghomri mixture. The time of cooking is 20 minutes.

Third phase:

At last, add cooked mung beans and let the food get well-cooked until it runs out of water. Then, pound it with a meat-masher to get stretching and also blend.

Pour Masho Ghomri into a dish and decorate it with fried onion and then, serve it with fresh bread and pickle.

You should use high quality ingredients in its foods.

You can use minced meat.

If you use minced kohlrabi, it should cook at the same time as the meat.
